What Is a Day Like at Camp 100% Vélo?
Wondering what your child experiences during a week at Camp 100% Vélo? Here’s a glimpse into this unique program designed to keep kids active, build confidence, and introduce them to cycling in all its forms.
Each day is filled with challenges, learning opportunities, and plenty of fun. Campers develop their cycling skills, take part in a wide variety of age- and skill-appropriate activities, and leave with unforgettable memories.
The program is designed to combine technique, adventure, and enjoyment, while allowing every child to progress at their own pace in a safe, dynamic, and stimulating environment.
Discovering the World of Cycling
For the past 20 years, our day camps have returned every summer with the same mission: to provide children with a week that is active, educational, and fun. Guided by their coach, campers discover four main cycling disciplines: track cycling, BMX racing, BMX freestyle, and mountain biking. For certain disciplines, specialized bikes and equipment are provided so that every child can fully enjoy the experience. In addition to time spent on the bike, the week also includes workshops, visits, and complementary activities that enrich the overall experience. Children can learn the basics of bike mechanics, stay active in the En mouvement space, discover gardening through a fun hands-on workshop, and cool off at the water games located on the Campus Germain-Desourdy grounds. Here’s a sample of the activities that make up a typical week:
- Introduction to bike mechanics.
- BMX racing sessions focused on starts, turns, and speed.
- Exploration of the velodrome and track cycling in a youth-friendly environment.
- Introduction to the Freestyle Zone to develop balance, creativity, and confidence on a BMX bike.
- Mountain biking sessions to practice fundamental trail-riding skills.
- Roller track activities to improve rhythm and coordination.
- Excursions to Parc des Sommets, either on the mountain side or at Mont Oak, depending on age group.
- Activities in the En mouvement space to diversify learning experiences and encourage active play.
- Gardening discovery workshop that adds an educational component to the week.
- And much more!
