Discover track cycling through our introductory training courses designed for participants aged 12 and older. Guided by our coaches, you will learn the fundamental techniques and rules of the velodrome while building confidence on the bike. Each step will help you develop the skills required to progress toward open track sessions.

Discover the subtleties of track and velodrome cycling in a tried-and-tested setting.

This 2-hour introduction immerses you in the world of fixed-gear cycling, teaching you the basics of pedaling and the safety rules of the velodrome. Whether you’re a cyclist or not, you’ll learn to master the track’s lines and essential techniques in a safe environment. Although this class isn’t enough to ride independently on the track, it guarantees an exciting and rewarding athletic experience.

During the peak season—in the fall and winter—introductory sessions are offered weekly. During the summer season, they are offered once a month. Don’t wait too long to reserve your spot!

Requirements

  • 12 years of age or older
  • Be comfortable riding a road bike or gravel bike

Registrer

*A minimum of 6 participants is required for the Discovery Introductory Session to take place. The CNCB reserves the right to cancel a session if there are insufficient registrations.

**In the event that the coach determines that a retake is necessary, it must be completed before the program continues.

Get ready to ride in a group at the velodrome with our certification!

This training course is designed to teach you how to ride safely on the velodrome and to familiarize you with the rules for riding in a paceline and in a peloton.

On the agenda: pacelines, rotating pacelines with corner handoffs, and group riding techniques—all leading to your certification.*

Prerequisites

  • Have successfully completed the Discovery program

If you would like to reserve your spot in the Certification course before completing the Discovery Introduction, you can do so by phone.

*Certification is not guaranteed and remains at the coach’s discretion, based on established evaluation criteria. If the coach determines that the required skills were not acquired during the training, you will need to retake the course to obtain your certification.

**A minimum of 10 participants is required for the B-level introductory course to take place. The CNCB reserves the right to cancel a session due to insufficient registrations.

Learn all the basics of track cycling with our Full Certification course!

This 3-hour immersive training session combines the content of the Discovery program and Certification courses to help you develop the knowledge and skills essential for track cycling. You’ll learn the basics of riding a fixed-gear bike, the safety rules specific to the velodrome, and techniques for riding in a group, in a “paceline,” and in a peloton.

On the agenda: mastering the track layout, safe riding techniques, pacelines, rotating pacelines with lead changes in the turns, and practical exercises leading to your certification.*

Do you have recent competition experience on another velodrome?

This 20-minute certification is for those aged 12 and over who have competed in a national junior, elite, master or para championship within the last 3 years.

This lesson validates the cyclist’s skills and knowledge Once the evaluation is completed, the cyclist will be certified to access group classes or free training on the track.

Requirements

  • Have participated in a Junior, Elite, Master or Para National Championship within the last 3 years. Proof in support.
  • Holding a valid competitive track license for the current year
